“Superstorm Sandy” is the focus of this special evening session, with presentations from those on the front lines of preparation, response, and recovery associated with an event that led to cascading failures across all transportation modes, as well as other critical infrastructure sectors. Throughout the 2013 Annual Meeting, there are an array of sessions and workshops on preparedness and adaptation in the face of increasingly extreme weather, weather impacts on mobility and operations, emergency evacuations, making transportation more resilient,, estimating future flood flows, infrastructure design for severe events, catastrophic modeling and funding policies, risk assessment, and post-disaster humanitarian logistics.
